At Soar Therapy and Integrated Wellness, deep tissue massage is designed for individuals who carry tension throughout their bodies rather than in one specific area. Many clients seek this work when stress, anxiety, or trauma has led to widespread muscle tightness, reduced mobility, or a body that feels constantly braced or guarded.
This service focuses on restoring movement, circulation, and ease across larger regions of the body while supporting nervous system regulation. It is not a relaxation massage, and it is not spot treatment. It is therapeutic care for the whole system.

How Deep Tissue Massage Works
Deep tissue massage addresses the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue that support posture, movement, and stability. Chronic stress, emotional strain, and long-term physical load can cause these layers to remain contracted over time, leading to stiffness, pain, and fatigue.
Through slow, sustained pressure and intentional pacing, deep tissue massage helps soften these layers, improve circulation, and reduce overall muscle guarding. As the body begins to release physically, the nervous system often follows, shifting from a constant state of tension toward greater regulation.
This approach is especially helpful for individuals experiencing ongoing low back pain, sciatica, hip tightness, shoulder restriction, or full body tension related to stress or anxiety.

The Role of Stress, Anxiety and Trauma in the Body
When the nervous system remains activated for long periods, the body adapts by holding tension across multiple muscle groups. Over time, this can contribute to:
- Chronic stiffness or soreness
- Low back pain or sciatica
- Reduced flexibility or mobility
- Fatigue, poor sleep, or shallow breathing
- A feeling of never fully relaxing, even at rest
Deep tissue massage supports the body’s ability to let go of this global holding pattern, creating space for both physical relief and emotional regulation.

An Integrative Mind Body Approach
Our licensed massage therapists work within an integrated mental health setting. While psychotherapy supports insight, emotional processing, and coping skills, bodywork helps release what has been held physically.
Deep tissue massage complements mental health care by supporting nervous system regulation, improving body awareness, and helping clients feel more grounded in their bodies over time.
